MLS Attendance Averages 21,130 in Opening Week of 2014

MLS week 1 average attendance is 21,130, an increase of +8.9% versus last season’s opening week average of 19,411. MLS clubs filled their stadiums on average to 87.5% capacity throughout the first week.

Four matches were sold out this week – Seattle Sounders versus Sporting Kansas City at CenturyLink Field, Vancouver Whitecaps versus New York Red Bulls at BC Place, Houston Dynamo versus New England Revolution at BBVA Compass Stadium, and Portland Timbers versus Philadelphia Union at Providence Park.
