MLS 2017 Opening Weekend Averages 22,936 in Attendance, Drop From 2016 Opening Weekend

MLS week 1 average attendance is 22,936.  This is a decrease from the 2016 opening weekend which had an average attendance of 26,152 in week 1.  Stadiums were 93.37% filled throughout the week.

Four matches were sold out this week— Portland Timbers versus Minnesota United FC at Providence Park, San Jose Earthquakes versus Montreal Impact at Avaya Stadium, Orlando City SC versus New York City FC at Orlando City Stadium, and Atlanta United FC versus New York Red Bulls at Bobby Dodd Stadium.
